Micro machining is still an uncommon science. There are some companies machining into glass and silicon. Due to the structural quality of these materials the process is unique. Micr o machining usually requires deep etching of materials. Side etching is difficult to control as well as directional etch. Thick resists are usually required to withstand the deep etch.
